Setting up Exchange Activesync for Palm Pre/Pixi, iPhone and Windows Mobile devices

Client configuration for Palm Pre

  1. Make sure you have an active internet connection
  2. Open Email application

No Existing email accounts setup ? this is the first email account on the Pre go to Setup 6

With any existing email accounts installed.*

  1. Tap upper left corner Email for menu
  2. Select Preferences & Accounts.
  3. At bottom tap Add An Account
  4. Tap upper left Email and select Manual Setup
  5. Under Mail Type select Exchange (EAS)
  6. Enter

a. Email Address: full email address

b. Incoming Mail Server address in first box. This is the url to your Webmail including the https:// for SSL or http:// without SSL. Example http://yourserver.domain.com

c. Leave Domain blank

d. Username: enter full email address again

e. Password: your email password

  1. Tap Sign In at bottom.

It will login to the server and begin downloading. Depending on your connection and the amount of data you have in SmarterMail it may take some time to sync up.

* Note: you cannot have an account setup in Pop or IMAP to check email for the ActiveSync email account you are adding. The Pre will give you an error at the end saying an account with this email already exists and will not proceed. I tried to rename my existing IMAP but it did not work, I personally had to remove my existing IMAP account before I could proceed to add the ActiveSync.
